Binders for Refractory Castables An Overview SpringerLink
· Abstract A binder for refractory castables is a bonding material that bonds a loose powdery mix retains its shape after casting and allows the cast shape to set and harden for handling and further processing. A binder also improves sintering as the castables are not compacted during shaping causing poor densification and strength.

Rheology of refractory concrete An article review
Refractory castables can be applied to the application site by different placing techniques and its rheology determines the most appropriate method (i.e. pumping vibration gunning and self-flow) . In addition to rheology the amount of water plays a vital role in defining the type of castables and determining the most appropriate method for applying these castables for example vibratable castables can turn into self

ADVANTAGES OF USING GEL BOND AND COLLOIDAL
· cement containing castables. · Shorter drying time and so reduced drying flaws. This is because water is not added or required for mixing. · Better refractoriness because of the absence low melting phases like- anorthite or gehlinite. · Colloidal silica being more viscous than the water help to maintain more separation of refractory particles
